Why Sealing Isn't Optional in Texas

The Structural Foundation Stamped Concrete Requires
Decorative concrete fails when it's applied over an inadequate base — and this is where many stamped concrete installations fall short. The Guild's standard for all stamped work includes the same structural specification as any other flatwork: a 4-to-6-inch compacted crushed limestone sub-base, suspended steel rebar grid (not wire mesh), and a 3,500+ PSI mix design with appropriate air entrainment for freeze-thaw resilience.
Sealing protects the surface. The sub-base is what protects the slab from Texas clay.
