The Lone Star Concrete Guild is founded on the principles of absolute structural integrity, client transparency, and master-level trade execution. This Code of Conduct outlines the aspirational standards, values, and pledges that independent contractors in our network strive to uphold.

Guild members pledge to avoid shortcuts on raw material formulations, aiming to reject standard builder-grade concrete mixes. Our recommended standard practice includes:

• Aiming for a minimum 3,500 PSI concrete mix design for all residential patios, walkways, and driveways.
• Aiming for a minimum 4,000 PSI concrete mix design for heavy vehicle pads, RV slabs, and industrial structures.
• Striving to avoid loose wire-mesh shortcuts in structural flatwork, preferring suspended steel rebar grids (with proper chairs) to withstand soil movement.

Recognizing the volatile expansion and shrinkage cycles of Texas clay soils, members pledge to execute thorough sub-grade preparation:

• Executing proper mechanical excavation to solid soil depths.
• Installing a compacted crushed limestone (flexible base) layer of 4 to 6 inches before pouring to distribute load forces.
• Using laser-leveled grading checks to encourage positive drainage away from existing house foundations and structures.

Guild members pledge to provide clear, complete, and transparent written estimates. Members strive to avoid:

• Unannounced structural surcharges or ad-hoc, unexpected site preparation costs.
• High-pressure sales practices or artificial price manipulation.
• Making scope or pricing changes without discussing them first and detailing differences in a clear written order.

Contractors operate as guests on client properties. Work crews are committed to respecting residential environments across all Texas chapters:

• Setting up secure formwork to prevent concrete runoff from affecting lawns, landscaping, or adjacent properties.
• Striving to maintain clean work environments, collecting wire clips, beverage containers, and wood scraps daily.
• Working to protect property gates, sprinkler lines, and underground utility lines in coordination with Texas 811 limits.

Members pledge to operate within proper legal frameworks by checking city permits, coordinating required municipal inspections, and aligning stamp textures and colors to match local HOA guidelines prior to starting structural pours.

All members are expected to remain fully insured with commercial general liability limits and maintain active state business registrations. Members strive to keep active safety equipment (eye protection, protective boots, rebar capping) on site during layout, steel-tying, and pouring operations.
